The Faces Behind the Company

President of In Case of Emergency
Amanda Wenrich, NREMT-I

Amanda started her Emergency Services involvement when she enrolled into EMT - Emergency Medical Technician School at age 15. She immediately developed a passion for Emergency Medicine and the classroom and returned as a volunteer instructor, donating 660 hours of her time at the age of 16 and 17 to the EMT Program in Chester County, Pennsylvania. Amanda was hired as an EMT Instructor for The Chester County Department of Emergency Services at age 17 and processed as an EMT Instructor by The Pennsylvania Department of Health on her 18th birthday; becoming the youngest EMT Instructor for both agencies.

Since that time, Amanda has lectured many thousands of hours, not only for her own business but also through her affiliation with nine EMS Training Institutes throughout the tri-state region. Her responsibilities with these institutes include functioning as a Training Coordinator, Course Coordinator and Lead Instructor for various programs. Amanda served as The Basic Life Support Training Coordinator for a nationally accredited EMS Training Institute and managed all of their BLS Training and EMT Programs. Amanda is a former team member of the "Dying for a Ride" program which educates high school students in DUI awareness. Amanda has earned seven official citations from the Federal Government and State of Pennsylvania for her achievements and dedication to emergency medicine. As one political figure stated; "I feel like I am reading the accomplishments of someone who has already lived a full life and retired". Amanda is a state evaulator for the PA Dept. of Health for EMT testing.

Amanda strives to not only provide skills-training and emergency awareness in her classes, but to ensure that her students fully understand the material and are one hundred percent ready, able and willing to act with full-confidence in the event of a true emergency.

Lead Instructor
Jenna Turner, NREMT-P

Jenna joined a local ambulance company at the age of 17. After a summer of EMT class, Jenna began to really enjoy the Emergency Medical Field, and the next fall attended a local university school of nursing. While continuing her education, Jenna continued her part job as an Emergency Medical Technician, and eventually continued on to become a Nationally Registered Paramedic receiving over 2500 hours of EMS instruction. In addition to her pre-hospital experience, Jenna worked in a local hospital for several years in the Emergency Department. During this time she gained valuable experience, and had the ability to work hand-in-hand with doctors and nurses. Jenna stated "This gave me a look at the whole picture. I can pick a patient up from his home with chest pain, follow him into the ER, and be able understand the whole treatment he will receive from the time he leaves his house to the time he leaves the hospital."

In addition to her Paramedic Training, Jenna has completed several other courses such as: Advanced Cardiac Life Support Instructor, Pediatric Advanced Life Support Instructor, Geriatric Education for Emergency Medical Services, International Trauma Life Support, SMART Triage, Instructor Methodology, and many more. Jenna currently serves as The Director of Emergency Medical Services for a nationally accredited EMS Training Institute and manages numerous paramedic training programs. Jenna is a state evaulator for the PA Dept. of Health for Paramedic and EMT testing.

Administrative Assistant
Lisa Smith, EMT-I

Lisa joined a volunteer fire department when she was 19 becoming the third female active volunteer firefighter for her department. Lisa became an EMT-B a year later and has been on over 1000 ambulance runs in her career as a volunteer.

Lisa worked as an EMT for a private ambulance service gaining experience in the public EMS service working at many publically attended functions. Also, Lisa has experience working as administrative support in the Home Health Field and Hospital based rehabilitation centers. Lisa's first exposure to training others was when she instructed for the American Heart Association as a CPR instructor and now looks forward to advancing her career as an EMT instructor.

Instructor
Jennifer "JD" Hervey, EMT-I

JD became involved with Emergency Services at the age of 14 when she began assisting the local pools with swim lessons and very soon after became a lifeguard and swim teacher. JD’s interest in educating the community about aquatics and water safety inspired her to become a certified American Red Cross Instructor for CPR and First Aid. JD continued to advance her teaching skills and became an aquatic specialist by gaining her certification as an American Red Cross Lifeguard Instructor. She began teaching her peers and conducting classes for local businesses, providing training on how to handle an emergency prior to the arrival of Emergency Medical Services (EMS).

Wanting to improve the continuity of care and response in an emergency situation, JD took on the challenge of obtaining her Emergency Medical Technician license. This allowed JD to effectively manage and communicate the overall picture of an emergency situation to her students; what to do prior to EMS arrival and what occurs on scene once EMS arrives. Understanding the full scope of an emergency puts JD in a unique position to provide a broader understanding to her students as to how their training can have a direct impact on the outcome of an emergency situation.

JD has traveled extensively throughout the United States teaching CPR, First Aid, and Lifeguard classes. JD’s commitment to her students is that they understand and have confidence in the skills they are learning to play an effective role in dealing with an emergency situation should they find themselves in such a position at home, in the workplace, or out in their community. We are lucky to have JD as a member of the ICE team full-time!
